Floor finishes

Hi Ian

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun here when I should wait for further units but I've just watched the floors unit and have a question.
Say I have a structural concrete floor slab spanning the building with internal walls built up from it. Then I have insulation with floor screed over to each room.
Would I have to make one 'floor' for the concrete slab and other individual 'floors' within each room for the screed finish or does revit have some fancy tool to cut the walls partially through a floor [down to slab level]. Hope that question makes sense.

Hi Glyn,

Question makes perfect sense and your suggestion is the way to go.

The floor layers that are common to all parts of the building are modelled as one Floor Type.

Your different floor finishes are then modelled as different floor types and applied locally in the areas they are needed.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Ian

No problem at all Glyn.

As they say.... "the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask!"

I would much rather people ask, if they're not sure on a strategy. Saves lots of lost time / rework later on 👍👍👍👍

Cheers,

Ian
